Linda Mitchell - Founder & CEO SISTERHOOD OF SWEAT

In the vibrant community of Mason, Ohio, a groundbreaking fitness revolution is unfolding. It’s a movement that transcends traditional exercises like squats, sprints, or obsessing over scales. At the heart of this revolution is the Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T., a unique sanctuary dedicated to empowering women. This isn't just a typical gym or fitness class; it’s a place where women come together to find strength, experience personal transformation, and build unwavering confidence. The Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T. offers an environment where physical training is seamlessly intertwined with emotional breakthroughs. Here, each sweat session is transformed into a soulful experience, providing women with the opportunity to connect with their inner selves and with each other. The focus is not solely on physical appearance but on fostering a deeper sense of well-being and self-acceptance. As women engage in these empowering sessions, they discover a supportive community that uplifts and inspires. This fitness revolution in Mason is redefining what it means to be strong and healthy, encouraging women to embrace their journey towards holistic wellness.

A Holistic Approach to Power - Founded by fitness champion, author, and podcast host Linda Mitchell, the Sisterhood’s approach is high-energy, faith-driven, and fiercely empowering. Each workout is a fusion of functional strength, HIIT, plyometrics, core, and mobility training. But it’s about more than just muscles—Linda helps women build Godfidence, a faith-fueled courage that pushes them beyond self-doubt and into their full potential.

“Real transformation begins when women believe they are worthy of rising.” – Linda Mitchell

This philosophy has inspired thousands of women to reclaim their lives. One client lost over 100 pounds through Sweat Camp, finally buying a season pass to King’s Island so she could ride rollercoasters with her kids for the first time in years. Another found the courage to leave a toxic relationship, saying, “I didn’t just get stronger—I got my life back.”

More Than a Gym: A Movement

The studio in Mason is a remarkable space that exudes warmth and connection, beautifully designed with heart and constructed by Linda’s husband, who is a talented structural engineer. This studio is not simply a place where people come to work out; it serves as a second home for all its members. It’s a sanctuary where personal transformation feels like a natural journey, and lifelong friendships are built and nurtured. Members come here not only for physical fitness but to find a supportive community that encourages growth and camaraderie. The energy within this studio is palpable, making it a cherished space where everyone feels welcomed and valued.

Voices That Inspire

Her dynamic speaking engagements—from Podfest to the Women’s Future Conference—bring her journey full circle. From surviving abuse to gracing 11 magazine covers and building a global sisterhood, Linda’s story reminds women everywhere:

Beyond the studio walls, Linda uses her voice to empower women worldwide. As host of the Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T. Podcast, she’s interviewed inspiring guests like Howie Mandel, Olympic athletes, bestselling authors, and resilient women who’ve overcome impossible odds. Each episode is packed with real talk, practical strategies, and soul-stirring stories.

Where Women Rise Strong

At Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T., women aren’t just training—they’re transforming their lives and redefining what it means to be strong. In this empowering community, they’re breaking down barriers that once seemed insurmountable, chasing dreams that fuel their passions, and becoming unstoppable forces of strength and grace. Every day, these inspiring women push beyond their limits, support one another in their personal journeys, and celebrate each achievement with enthusiasm and pride. Their dedication not only transforms their physical selves but also ignites a profound sense of empowerment and confidence that extends into every aspect of their lives, fostering a spirit of resilience and unity.

From Fitness to the Written Word

Linda Mitchell never imagined she’d be a writer. At 40, while competing in fitness events against women half her age, her focus was on strength training, discipline, and faith—not storytelling. But a single nudge set her on a course she couldn’t have predicted.

“Someone told me I should write about my experience. I laughed and said, ‘I’m not a writer.’ But something inside me whispered, ‘Why not?’”

That whisper led Linda to send a heartfelt letter to Ms. Fitness magazine. To her surprise, the letter became her first published article. One article turned into another, and before long, Linda was writing feature stories and landing her own column, “Fit Over 40”, which she penned for an incredible 15 years.

Her success as a columnist opened doors to even greater opportunities. Linda went on to collaborate with New York Times bestselling author Ann Louise Gittleman on Fat Flush for Life, an experience that cemented her place in the literary world.

An Unexpected Calling

Her success as a columnist opened doors to even greater opportunities. Linda went on to collaborate with New York Times bestselling author Ann Louise Gittleman on Fat Flush for Life, an experience that cemented her place in the literary world.

But it was her second book that became the heart of her author journey.

“It wasn’t even meant to be a book—but it’s the one I’m most proud of because it truly transforms lives.”

For Linda, writing is more than words on a page; it’s a way to sit beside her readers, to guide and lift them even when she isn’t in the room. Her books carry her coaching philosophy into homes around the world, giving women the tools to rise strong in every area of their lives.

A Moment of Pride

Perhaps the most surreal moment in her journey came years later, at age 62, while walking through the Dallas airport. There it was: her face staring back from a magazine cover.

For Linda, writing was never about seeking fame or accolades. It was about answering a higher calling to inspire, empower, and help others rise.

Purpose on the Page

TEDx Speech

At 40, I thought my time to do something extraordinary had passed. After all, I was competing against women half my age, juggling life’s curveballs, and chasing dreams that seemed too big for a small-town girl. But what I didn’t realize then is that sometimes God uses the very moments we feel weakest to ignite our greatest strength."

The author never intended to be a writer, podcast host, or fitness champion but took a small step by writing to Ms. Fitness magazine, which opened unexpected doors. She has since coached thousands of women, published transformative books, and spoken on stages. The message emphasizes the power within everyone to rise strong regardless of age or past, focusing on sweat, strength, and sisterhood. It advocates for embracing imperfection and being strong and unstoppable rather than striving for perfection.

The Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T. Women’s Fitness Boutique has recently relocated to West Chester, Ohio, marking an exciting development in its journey. This new location, with its increased visibility and enhanced opportunities, features a spacious front-facing area complete with a full dance floor.

The move represents a significant advancement in the boutique's mission to empower women through fitness and community. This new chapter promises to foster an environment filled with energy and vitality, encouraging women to engage in a supportive and dynamic fitness experience.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW OF LINDA MITCHELL WITH TFW TIMES

Q: What initially inspired you to create the Sisterhood of Sweat, and how has it evolved over the years?

I created Sisterhood of Sweat to empower women through fitness and faith after overcoming trauma. It began as a local community and grew into a global movement, coaching, podcasting, and media platforms that inspire women to reclaim their strength at any age.

Q: You’ve worn many hats, athlete, author, entrepreneur, podcast host. Which role has challenged you the most and why?

Entrepreneurship challenged me most. It demands vision, resilience, and constant reinvention. Leading a brand while staying aligned with my purpose taught me to trust God, own my voice, and lead with heart even when the path felt uncertain.

Q: What does “power” mean to you in the context of women’s wellness, and how can women tap into theirs?

Power is owning your worth, body, mind, and spirit, without apology. Women tap into it by silencing the inner critic, setting boundaries, and honoring their bodies with movement, purpose, and belief in their God-given strength.

Q: Being featured on billboards in Times Square eight times is no small feat, what was going through your mind the first time you saw yourself up there?

I was overwhelmed with gratitude. After everything I’d been through, abuse, setbacks, reinvention, I stood there in Times Square as living proof that faith, courage, and perseverance can rewrite any story, even in your 60s.

Q: Can you share a pivotal moment in your fitness journey that completely changed your mindset or direction?

After a major injury, I thought I was done. But God used that moment to rebuild me stronger, mentally and physically. I learned healing isn’t a setback, it’s an invitation to rise higher.

Q: How did your experience as a Fitness Universe and Fitness America Champion shape your perspective on health and body image?

Winning Fitness Universe, Fitness America, and Ms. Bikini America Masters, and earning pro cards in both Fitness and Bikini, all in my 60s, completely reshaped how I view health. Strength, confidence, and beauty evolve with age. Discipline and belief are what create true empowerment, not a number on the calendar.

Q: In your celebrated column “Fit Over Forty,” what was one message you felt women needed to hear the most?

It’s never too late. Age doesn’t define your limits, belief does. Women over forty can be powerful, sexy, and unstoppable. The key is showing up for yourself every day with intention and grace.

Q: What are some common misconceptions people have about fitness and aging that you work to dispel?

People think aging means decline, but I’m proof it can be a comeback. You can build muscle, confidence, and vitality well into your 50s, 60s, and beyond. It’s about mindset and consistency.

Q: You’ve created a strong, supportive community through Sisterhood of Sweat, what do you think is the secret to building real connection among women?

Vulnerability. When women stop competing and start sharing their struggles, they create space for real sisterhood. We grow stronger when we lift each other instead of comparing our paths.

Q: How do you balance personal wellness with the demands of running a brand, writing, and speaking to audiences worldwide?

I prioritize faith, movement, and boundaries. My husband’s support helped me build the Sisterhood of Sweat community and fitness boutique. I’m also grounded by my family, my three children, all college graduates, and my two beautiful grandchildren remind me daily what truly matters.

Q: What advice would you give to women who feel intimidated by the idea of starting their fitness journey later in life?

Start small, but start now. You don’t need to be perfect, you just need to begin. Your strength is still there, waiting. One workout, one healthy choice at a time builds momentum and confidence.

Q: Can you walk us through a typical day in your life, how do you stay centered and energized?

My day starts with prayer, journaling, and movement. I train clients, record podcasts, and fuel my body with nourishing food. I carve out quiet time to reset, and I protect my energy fiercely.
